EASTON, Pa. - Hailing from Easton, he's a boxing legend with victories so sweet, a local chocolatier is turning him into a tasty work of art.

Larry Holmes is being immortalized in the richest form known to man: chocolate.

Weighing in at 16 pounds, and standing at about two feet tall, a statue of boxing legend Larry Holmes is all made out of dark chocolate.

"There's nothing bigger than him here," Belgian chocolatier JP Hepp said.

And now, nothing sweeter either.

Hepp owns the chocolate shop, Chocodiem, inside the Easton Public Market. His staff has been working to bring the heavyweight great to life, in chocolate form.

"Everything important in our community, that's what we want to create in chocolate," he said.

Previous confectionary conquests include chocolatizing Easton's Historic Centre Square and Easton Area High School mascot, the Red Rover.

"We thought, why not try Larry Holmes?" Hepp said. "He is the legend of Easton. He has a statue by the river, right? He has a street named for him."

Holmes is known as the Easton Assassin. But there's no destroying this delicious work of art.

"It's very edible," Hepp said. "But not to be eaten."

The chocolate statue will be revealed this Saturday inside the Easton Public Market at 3 p.m. Other chocolatey samples will be offered up.

Larry Holmes himself will be there, along with Easton's mayor.

Holmes, who's got sweet victories under his belt, including over Muhammed Ali, will also be presented with a chocolate belt.

"It came out amazingly," Hepp said.
